Rebecka Ekerby about worship

Rebecka Ekerby is a singer-songwriter and worship leader from Östersund who dreams of reaching out with her music beyond the walls of the church. After releasing several singles in the past, she released her first album this year, titled "If I Listen Very Carefully." The music is a reflection of her simple relationship with God, which is also what she aims to convey through her music. Rebecka is married to Per, and together they have two children. She has ministered in Sweden and also in Norway the past 15 years.

Q: What is worship to you?
For me worship is so much more than just songs and instruments playing. Everything we do in life can be worship if we just give it to God. Recently, I have enjoyed just sitting in silence with Jesus, that is also worship to me, just sitting in his presence admiring him. Giving God every day is worship to me.
Q: What was it like to record an album?
It has been a dream come true for me. So much fun but also so much more challenging than I thought. I have really enjoyed working with the Christian record label Light & salt records, and the wonderful couple behind it, Therese & Joakim Sandström.
Q: How do you usually write a song?
When I have time I love to sit by my piano or play guitar and spend time with God. I often just sing whatever’s on my heart to him, and very often that ends up being a song. A lot of melodies and songs also comes spontaneously in worship sessions at church.
Q: What plans if any do you have for the coming years?
I have so many dreams and I’m very expectant for what God has in store for me in the future. I really enjoy helping and supporting people to reach their full potential and seeing others peoples dreams come true.

I’m always writing new songs and hope to release new singles and new albums in the future in both English and Swedish. I’m also going to co-write and do some collaborations with some other Christian Swedish artists in the near future.
